Expected Duration
The complete registration process takes approximately 1-3 business days from the date all required documents are received.
Competent Authority
GS1 Qatar – the National Numbering Office, is the only official authority authorized to issue GS1 prefixes in the State of Qatar.
Global Validity
Prefixes issued by GS1 Qatar are globally recognized in over 150 countries by major retail platforms and outlets.
What GS1 Qatar Provides
GS1 Qatar is the official source for globally recognized barcodes (GTINs) in Qatar. With a GS1 membership, your products gain:
- Global Recognition: Your products can be listed on major e-commerce platforms worldwide

- Retail Acceptance: Accepted by leading retailers across Qatar and globally
- Qatari Prefix (630): A unique identifier that shows your products originate from Qatar

Important Notice
Once your prefix is issued, you cannot upgrade or downgrade your membership category. Choose carefully based on both current and future needs.
How to Calculate Your GTIN Needs
Each product variation requires a unique GTIN (barcode). Use this formula:
Example: T-shirt Product Line
Sizes (3) × Colors (3) × Styles (3) = 27 GTINs needed
This would fit into Category C (up to 1,000 items)
Variations include: Sizes, Colors, Styles, Flavors, Scents, Multipacks, Packaging types

Activation Timeline
- Form filling: ~10 minutes
- Account activation after payment: 1-3 business days
Step 1: Submit Application
Fill out the online form and upload documents.
Step 2: Verify Email
Click verification link in confirmation email.
Step 3: Pay Invoice
Pay via bank transfer using details in invoice.
Step 4: Sign & Stamp
Sign and stamp the Membership Profile document.
Step 5: Email Documents
Send payment receipt + signed profile to info@gs1.qa
Step 6: Receive Activation
Get Membership Certificate and start issuing barcodes.
